Arkansas Lighting and the Nūmode Process

The heart of the process is dye sublimation and powder coating, two very mature technologies which have been blended in a patented technique to chemically bond the dye into the powder coated particles. This solution is often used outdoors in architectural settings even in coastal areas. In an indoor setting, this finish is nearly indestructible.

To put it succinctly, it is a decorative finish placed on and saturated into aluminum or metal. There by giving Arkansas products a new mode, a NūMODE.

How it All Works

The image is first printed onto transfer paper via inkjet technology. The part is then powder coated with a unique powder that is ready to accept the dye. Finally, it is put into a heat press where the temperatures reach almost 400 degrees. While being subjected to extreme heat and pressure, the dyes from the transfer paper turn into a gas, are pressed into the surface of the metal, and then solidify. Once out of the press, the dyes cool and they are permanently infused within the powder coating on the part.
